Last week we took a spontaneous trip to the beach. We decided Wednesday afternoon to pack a lunch, grab towels & changes of clothes, and drive to Carolina Beach the next morning. It took less than 3 hours and we had a blast! The kids loved the ocean and digging in the sand.
It was so nice to get away from home and work for the day and spend time as a family. The portable DVD player made the car trip fairly easy and the kids definitely slept well that night.
We rented a fun family bike to ride around for an hour.
We ended our trip with a stop at one of the North Carolina aquariums. The Cape Fear building had an albino alligator, as well as turtles and quail that the kids could see up close.
