Pictures of the kids

My dad wanted some pictures of James and Naomi for his house in Kenya. We didn't have any recent pictures of them, other than action shots, so we decided to try before church one Sunday. Here are the results...

We tried to let them warm up to the camera by making silly faces.

An attempt at a smile.

After Naomi ran away twice, we sat them up on the wall.

They were not happy.

Okay, fine, you can get down now.

Their pitiful looks crack me up. You would think we were torturing them by trying to get one picture of them both smiling and looking at the camera. Needless to say, Babu doesn't have a new picture of them up in his house. He had to settle for a year-old professional picture. At least we got a good laugh out of it.

Week of Fun - Part 2

Our next family activity was bowling...

The kids had fun, but bowling didn't hold their interest for very long. All James wanted to do was play arcade games. Playing air hockey with his Daddy was the definite highlight for him.

Our last fun activity of the week was a trip to the zoo. It was the best trip to the NC Zoo our family has had; because we have a membership, we didn't feel pressed to see every exhibit in one day. We decided to just focus on the African animals. It was the first time Naomi was able to recognize most of the animals, and both kids enjoyed all the statues and games throughout the zoo.

Week of Fun-Part 1

I am way behind posting on this blog. My internship ended with a little over a week before I had to start classes again. We took this week to do some of the fun things in the area that the kids enjoy. Day 1 was Jordan Lake. When we got there, we were the only people there.

The kids played in the sand and splashed in the water for a couple of hours until it was time for lunch.

We had a nice picnic in the shade and played for a little while longer before it was time to head home for naps. Jordan Lake is such a wonderful escape from home...only 30 minutes away, but an inexpensive way to have fun outside as a family. The kids never tire of playing in the sand and the water is the perfect depth for them to splash and swim in.

On day 2, we went to Marbles Kids' Museum in Raleigh. James had been asking to go to Marbles for months, and it was a great place to spend a very hot day. Both kids had fun playing in the water. Mimi especially enjoyed pushing around the shopping cart, picking up groceries, and setting up a picnic...then putting it all back in the cart again.

The Power2Play exhibit was a favorite of both kids. They played hockey, ran through the obstacle course, and jumped in the ball pit. Since this was the travelling exhibit, it was nice to play there again before they change the area.

Before we left, James and Wesley built a car, which James had fun racing down the ramp.

Marbles is the perfect museum for kids James and Naomi's ages and a great place to spend a few hours.
