My BFF’s Wedding

The major event of the summer was Christine and Brian’s wedding.  It was a wonderful weekend of celebration.  We enjoyed time with my parents and getting to know friends and family of the bride and groom.  The wedding was gorgeous, and I was honored to be the matron of honor.  Our kids performed spectacularly well as a ring bearer and the flower girl.  (Bribes go a long way with the 2-4 crowd!)  Highlights of the weekend include…

Naomi telling Christine “you’re the pwincess” when she saw her in her wedding dress.

For my parents

My parents recently returned from a two week trip to Kenya. Instead of emailing them a bunch of pictures, I decided I’d update my blog. Here’s what we’ve been up to this summer…

The big news of the summer is that Naomi is potty trained. It was sooooo easy. We knew she was ready. The cute little girl panties and some M&Ms did the trick.

On her Dora potty.

She only had 2 accidents the first day, 1 the second day, none on the third day. We are so glad to be done with diapers.

Potty training reality.

We celebrated the Fourth of July. And the kids were willing to take family pics.

The kids helped make red, white, and blue fruit and marshmallow kabobs and shucked corn with Wesley. (It’s difficult to get a picture of James with his mouth closed; he likes to talk.)

We had an all-American cookout. Wesley did kabobs on the grill. I made potato salad and a blueberry pie.

We ended the night by watching fireworks with friends.

A big hit this summer was Daddy-son and Mommy-daughter night. The boys went to see How to Train your Dragon and went to McDonald’s for dinner. James loves a good meal that comes with a toy. The girls took a nice nap, then went shopping for a potty training prize for Naomi. We roamed the aisles at the toy store looking at girly toys. Naomi decided on a “princess” jewelry.

We decided to have dinner at Moe’s because Naomi loves tacos.

july_29

Spending time one-on-one with the kids was fun for us and them.

july_30

James is very energetic, dramatic, and talks non stop…very much like Wesley. It was great that they could spend a day doing things they love, and I think Wesley may have liked the movie even more than James.

july_31

Naomi has grown into such a sweet two-year-old. She is very girly and would wear a dress every day if we let her.

july_33

The kids also got a new bed this month. We are still working on them actually sleeping in the same room, but they are making progress. They love having “bunk beds”. Naomi loves to get out of bed and make lots of noise, but her mattress on the floor is better than her climbing out of her crib.

While Wesley built the bed, James learned how to do flips.

This may have been the longest post ever, but I’m finally getting close to being caught up.

Vegas!!!

For my graduation gift from my lovely husband, I went to Las Vegas with two of my best friends from high school. We each graduated from graduate school, so it was a wonderful time of celebration.

We flew into California, and stopped for lunch before driving to Vegas.vegas_01

Christine and I loved the mountains and desert along the way.

vegas_03

We spent our time in a lovely condo about 15 minutes from the strip.

vegas_08

The few days in Vegas were wonderfully relaxing; Andrea planned amazing meals, we read and talked by the pool, I slept in and took naps, and we watched the Twilight movies.

vegas_07

We got dressed up and went out one night. The strip is a very interesting place…there is really no place like it.

We went back the next day to take pictures and find gifts for the kids.

At MGM. We found a sweet lion stuffed animal for Mimi.

Thank you girls for an amazing vacation. And thanks to Wesley for taking care of the kids and finding ways to keep them busy while I was gone.
